A look back at Previous Banff Kickoff Parties

2025

Our largest Banff Kickoff Party yet! Approximately 100 Adventurers celebrated at Common House with drinks and food and a wonderful panel about our Trailblazers program. Latara Ragland, CAYIP Coordinator for the City of Charlottesville; Zach Foster, Executive Director of Appalachian Conservation Corps; and Tommy Safranek, Board Member of the Rivanna Trail Foundation, offered valuable insights into the program and the importance of getting young people outside and into the conservation field.

2024

Kevin Morgan, filmmaker, outdoor enthusiast, and advocate for telling the story of our public lands, shared footage of his adventures throughout Shenandoah National Park.

2022

The inaugural film festival kickoff party in 2022 was held at Three Notch’d Brewery with Earl B. Hunter Jr., founder of Black Folks Camp Too, an organization with the mission of “increas[ing] diversity in the outdoor industry by making it easier, more interesting, more familiar, and more fun for black folks to go camping.” The Shenandoah National Park Trust is committed to ensuring that the Park is a welcoming place for all. 2023

The second annual Banff Kickoff Party was held at Kardinal Hall. The highlight of the event was a panel discussion between Appalachian Conservation Corps Director Zach Foster, ART 180 Deputy Director Nicole Jones, and Elk Hill Prevention Services Coordinator Liz Knotts, titled “Nature as Healer, Muse, & Teacher – Youth Programming in Shenandoah National Park.” The panelists discussed how they engage young people in their communities and create pathways to Shenandoah.
