The Wilderness

While the western view of the park is often where the photos come from, the eastern view is great as well. This is especially true for shooting portraits when you want to escape the harsh sunlight. Once the sun begins descending to the mountains across the valley, you can get some great photos of the eastern skyline. One of my favorite locations for portraits is Moormans River Overlook. Here there are layers of mountains, Sugar Hollow Reservoir, and very little to no human activity in the background. This small stop feels like what the park was intended to do, to preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. 📸 @fatherinthewild
