Do you believe in the power of community to protect wild places? The Shenandoah National Park Trust (SNPT) — the official philanthropic partner of Shenandoah National Park — is seeking 3 new board members, as well as, Committee members who are ready to lead with vision, generosity, and heart.
For nearly two decades, the Trust has been the driving force behind projects that protect Shenandoah’s forests, wildlife, trails, and history. Now, as we approach our 20th anniversary, we’re inviting changemakers to join our Board of Trustees and/or Board level committees and help shape the next chapter in Shenandoah’s story.
Why Join the Board or a Committee?
Shenandoah’s rolling mountains and misty hollows have inspired generations — but they cannot protect themselves. As a board or committee member, you’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring the park’s future by guiding the Trust’s strategy, strengthening partnerships, and mobilizing philanthropic support to advance key priorities:
- Conservation: Protect fragile ecosystems and native species.
- Education: Expand youth and community learning programs.
- Accessibility: Make Shenandoah more inclusive and welcoming for all.
- Innovation: Support sustainable solutions for the park’s next century.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals with experience in philanthropy, finance, education, public policy, digital communications , conservation, or community engagement — and a deep commitment to the mission of public lands.
Board and committee members serve as ambassadors for the park, lending their expertise, influence, and enthusiasm to advance projects that matter.
Your Impact
Since 2007, SNPT has invested over $5 mill in direct support to the Park funding more than 70 projects that
- Restore and maintain beloved trails
- Support park scientists and rangers
- Preserve cultural and historic landmarks
- Build youth employment and conservation programs
- Increase accessibility and inclusion across the park

What Committees Could I join?
- Finance and investment Committee: Provides oversight of financial management, investment practices, and risk mitigation.
- Impact Committee: Advances alignment between philanthropic investments and Park priorities
- Development Committee: Drives fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and campaign success.
- Events Committee: Strengthens community engagement and philanthropy through mission-aligned events that celebrate Shenandoah National Park and build donor relationships.
